A one day course designed to safely introduce those that are new to bushcraft to the common tools that are frequently used including the fixed blade knife, folding saw and bow saw.
You will learn about tool design, the various materials used and how to safely use these essential items of bushcraft equipment in careful and controlled ways. We will also teach you how to sustainably harvest materials from nature in a sustainable manner that can have positive effects to the environment and help to increase biodiversity.
The theory sessions will be backed up with valuable practical demonstrations. You will learn how to make some basic craft projects where you can put your new skills to the test. These items include tent pegs, feather sticks and a butter knife. All items made on the course can be taken home at the end of the day. We would suggest that the age range from 13 years upwards.
We will provide all tools required for the course.
The course will involve being in the outdoor classroom for the entire day and some walking on uneven ground will be required.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided throughout the day and you will need to bring your own packed lunch and drinking mug.
The course will go ahead in all weather conditions so please come prepared and dressed accordingly.
Students will need to bring:-
- Warm clothing.
- Hat and Gloves.
- Suitable Outdoor Footwear.
- Warm Socks.
- Cups or Large Mug.
- Packed Lunch.
- Spare Dry Clothes Are Highly Recommended.
- Note Books With Pen or Pencil
Everyone will be presented with a "Badger Bushcraft Introduction To Bushcraft Tools" certificate at the end of the course.
