I have recently acquired a delightful book written by Adele Nozedar and gloriously illustrated by Lizzie Harper called “The Hedgerow Handbook – Recipes, Remedies and Rituals”. This book is a splendid read for those of us with a love of botany and “The Great British Hedgerow” but I think this will appeal also to any with a love of books as a whole.

Charles Thurlow Craig

I was first exposed to the author, adventurer and gentleman Charles William "Carlos" Thurlow Craig during my childhood growing up in the exceptionally pleasant and verdant area surrounding the village of Weald near Sevenoaks in Kent.

Poisonous Plants in Great Britain by Frederick Gillam is a lovely little paperback book with stunning illustrations detailing some of the toxic plants we may encounter in the landscape of the United Kingdom.

101 Uses for Stinging Nettles by Piers Warren is an interesting paperback book that I purchased last week from an online retailer.

How much do you know about a plant that most very young children can easily identify?
