Badger Bushcraft has teamed up with The Angel Cookery Academy to provide unique "Gourmet Bushcraft Events".

Combining the best of our bushcraft and survival skills with the gastronomic delights of The Angel Cookery Academy we will provide you with an event to remember!

Set in the stunning "Darling Buds of May" countryside near our base in Kent you can meet us at our farm based site or we can arrange to have you collected from Pluckley railway station, which is just over an hour from London Charing Cross.

fire makingYour "Gourmet Bushcraft Event" starts at the farm with a scrumptious breakfast prepared and cooked by The Angel Cookery Academy's Cordon Bleu Chef Zoe Morley.

Cooking for Zoe is the most natural thing in the world and she even dreams about food when she sleeps! Like in your jobs where the only focus is excellence her role as chef can be very demanding, exhausting and incredibly stressful at times but she still loves it as much as the day when she first started 11 years ago.

Cooking is an essential life skill and we can not think of a better way to learn to cook than in a beautiful and inspirational environment using only the best quality, freshest and ripest of seasonal produce which really is at the heart of successfully cooking stunning gourmet food. Zoe aims to give you the opportunity to grasp simple modern day cookery techniques in an exceptionally beautiful and inspirational location and to help you develop a life long passion and appreciation for good food. We would like to share with you the sense of fulfilment that cooking has brought to her life and share some fantastic recipes.

What better way is there to start your Gourmet Bushcraft Day than with freshly filtered coffee in the open air accompanied with a delicious breakfast. Some examples of what's on the gourmet camps morning menu include:-

  • Banana maple porridge with buttered fresh fruit.
  • Homemade Danish pastries.
  • Freshly made crumpets with blackberry butter.
  • Roasted mushrooms with thyme, garlic spinach and poached eggs.

Once you have been fed and watered Badger Bushcraft Head Instructor Phil Brown will teach you some of the fundamental bushcraft and survival skills. Very hands on and practical these subjects will reconnect you or your team back to nature with the ways and skills of our ancient ancestors. Learn the many methods of lighting fires including the ancient art of fire by friction before putting your skills to the test later in the day.

kent landscapeExplore with Phil the wild plants and trees that fill our world but are so often over looked and ignored in these modern times. Discover Mother Natures' medicine chest and learn some of the folklore attached to the majestic trees and beautiful plants that grace our world.

Experience the thrill of our earliest forebears hunting weapons the atlatl or spear thrower which predates the advent of the bow and arrow by many thousands of years.

With your bushcraft and fire skills honed and with expert guidance you will be placed into teams and set the task of building your cooking fires and cooking your gourmet meal with only the finest ingredients! Phil will judge your camp craft and Zoe will assess your culinary skills with a prize to the winning team at the end of the day.

Why not lengthen your stay with our Overnight Experience? We can provide, if required, modern single pole tipis to sleep in or our friends at the exquisite boutique hotel "Elvey Farm" could house you in luxury for the night.
