Join us underneath the parachute shelter for the exceptionally popular and well received Badger Bushcraft Family Learning Day Course!

bushcraft for kidsA one day family bushcraft and nature awareness course that focuses on teaching and demonstrating a variety of skills that can be applied in a host of accessible family friendly environments. Initially designed to meet key educational criteria for the Extended Schools Network this course has always been over subscribed and gone from strength to strength within the Kent Educational Networks.

Located at our farm site in mid-Kent this one day session will provide a sound foundation to develop further bushcraft skills, open a door to nature based learning and inspire a new found confidence and love of the great outdoors for young and old alike. During the day we will cover many skills and experiences which include:-

  • Fire Craft
  • Safe Fire Construction and Maintenance
  • Attendees Will Be Able To Light And Maintain Small Fires Using Some Of The Methods Demonstrated
  • Marshmallow Toasting
  • Backwoods Cooking
  • Examining Different Animal Skulls
  • Nature Walk
  • Plant and Tree Identification
  • Small Mammal Feeding Signs
  • Atlatl - The Ancient Spear Thrower

family bushcraftTo make the course as hands on and as practical as possible we recommend that each child is supported by one adult. We would also suggest that the age range from 7 years upwards. The course will involve being in the outdoor classroom for the entire day and some walking on uneven ground will be required.

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided throughout the day and you will need to bring your own packed lunch and drinking mug.

The course will go ahead in all weather conditions so please come prepared and dressed accordingly.

Students will need to bring:-

  • Warm clothing.
  • Waterproofs.
  • Hat and Gloves.
  • Suitable Outdoor Footwear.
  • Warm Socks.
  • Cups or Large Mug.
  • Packed Lunch.
  • Spare Dry Clothes Are Highly Recommended.
  • Camera.
  • Note Books With Pen or Pencil

Each child will be presented with a "Badger Bushcraft Family Learning Day Course Certificate" at the end of the course.
