Badger Bushcraft at the Bowles Centre “Learn Outside With Confidence” 2011

Badger Bushcraft were delighted to have been invited to attend and deliver some bushcraft sessions at The Bowles Centre at Eridge Green near Tunbridge Wells at their “Learn Outside With Confidence” event on Thursday 31st March

The one day event was designed to “inspire teachers and give them the skills to plan and deliver meaningful lessons outside the classroom to broaden and enrich a child’s whole school experience” and Badger Bushcraft was proud to have been a part of this process.

Phil Brown had this to say about the event:-

“This was our first visit to the Bowles Centre and I must say it is an impressive and professionally run centre that is well equipped with kit, facilities and an exceptionally pleasant and proficient team.

We provided hands on demonstrations of firecraft and the atlatl. The fire sessions went down a storm and I hope that some of the attendees will take up the atlatl and hopefully join us later in the year for the Badger Bushcraft Atlatl Event

Some feedback from our bushcraft sessions at the Bowles Centre included:-

  • ‘Very interesting, I learnt lots of interesting and fascinating things. I am going to look at getting Phil into school’
  • ‘10/10 Loved the different ways to make fire – especially electricity’
  • ‘Excellent 10/10 particularly enjoyed the fire lighting. Also learnt that some of the barriers I perceived to hold back outdoor learning are not a reality.’
  • ‘A very enthusiastic instructor. I never knew lighting a fire was so easy.’

In conclusion Phil said:-

“I felt the day was a great success and it is always a pleasure and privilege to meet and work with teachers that share my passion for learning outside the classroom. From the day I hope to forge new relationships between both the schools the teachers represented and with our friends at the Bowles Centre. We look forward to the next event and will gladly provide sessions for the next “Learn Outside With Confidence” at the Bowles Centre.”
